2022 Sauvignon Blanc
The Story: The assortment of Sauvignon Blanc styles is fascinating. Whether it’s old of new world styles or more recently skin contact styles, Sauvignon Blanc has many guises. Most commonly, Antipodean expressions are racy in the mouth with notes of gooseberry, citrus and grass and are by and large quite simple. Is this their appeal? At Lethbridge the idea of simple is an anathema. Our Sauvignon Blanc is made to confound and intrigue.
Winemaking Description: We use old school techniques including wild yeast, lees contact and maturation in large old casks. When made this way the wine loses its overt fruitiness and gains some richness.
Tasting Notes: The nose greets you with a gamut of ripe lemon; skin, juice, and pith, followed by orange Campari, chamomile, and honeysuckle. The palate is sophisticated and minerally with underlying notes of gooseberry and sea spray. Lees contact and barrel age give this wine creamy complexity and solid length.
