96 Point Halliday Pack

96 Point Halliday Pack

2019 Indra - '100% whole bunches, 100% new barriques. From the oldest shiraz vines (1996) at Lethbridge. Deeply coloured with black and blue fruits, incense stick, gentle cedar notes from the new oak, which has just about been soaked up by the fruit, and a little potpourri. Concentrated and structured with a silkiness to the ripe, very persistent tannins. A lovely wine from start to finish and built to age gracefully over the next decade or so. Only 827 bottles made.'

2021 'Block 4' Pinot Noir - 'All MV6 estate planted in 1996 with 50% whole bunches and 50% new French barriques. Nuanced with less primary and more secondary aromas including dark rose petal, wild strawberries, light clove scents and just a little sous bois. Lovely palate with superb fine, silky tannins giving this both texture and structure. Seductive now and over the next decade or so.'

2021 'Hat Rock' Pinot Noir - 'Planted on black clay at a vineyard at Port Arlington that has been leased since 2003. About 50% whole bunches and 50% new French barriques. Mineral with pure, black cherries, incense and floral notes Structured and savoury on the palate, this tightly wound wine feels, at the moment, as if it's carved out of stone. Patience will definitely be rewarded, and I'd love to see this eight to 10 years from now!'

2023 'Vaughan' Pinot Gris - 'Fermented in both stainless steel and wood, with some components receiving up to eight hours' skin contact. The different components were then blended and matured in foudre. Fragrant and discreet with aromas of stone fruits, nashi and ginger spice. This has flavour and structure, not always easy with this variety. Seriously good pinot gris and one that will still be looking good five years from now.'
